A light and very juicy wine with solid, fine-grained tannins. Red plums and cherries with touches of cedar, minerals and graphite. Fine tannins on the medium-bodied palate. Firm, succulent and linear. Refined and bright in the finish. 56.3% cabernet sauvignon, 29.2% merlot and 14.5% cabernet franc. - Zekun Shuai, Senior Editor.
Sweet and creamy rose petal scents on the nose, smells floral and nicely scented with lots of red cherry. Succulent and streamlined, this has a delicate core of juicy strawberry fruit with a creamy undertone. Finishes saline with bite and some toasted nuts as well as tobacco and liquorice. Tannins are a touch chewy bringing density and flesh to the palate with a direct line of acidity which keeps things lifted and focussed. Unfussy, pure and easy to drink. 3.67pH. 4.9% press.
8A blend of 56.3% Cabernet Sauvignon, 29.2% Merlot and 14.5% Cabernet Franc, the 2024 La Chapelle de la Mission Haut-Brion is fresh and perfumed, offering up aromas of peonies, dark berries and green bell pepper. Moderately weighted and sappy, it's layered and youthfully introverted, underpinned by somewhat brittle tannins and concluding with a fresh, elegant finish.
Brooding and concentrated aromas with sweet spices and some oaky cedar. Plenty of cassis despite the relatively high percentage Merlot. Palate-flooding complexity and depth with violets, forest fruit berries and crème de mûre. This manages a sumptuousness that is very rare for this vintage and is yet another testament to the greatness of terroir being the saving of the conditions. Very fine, and although maybe approachable in relative youth for La Mission, this will have the staying power of every vintage here.
