O Son das Pisadas 2021

This is a really floral and perfumed pure mencia with aromas of roses, strawberries and pepper. The palate is medium-bodied with delicate fruit flavors and an ethereal, almost elusive finish. Pure mencía from two 35- to 45-year-old parcels in Cambados and Porta. 100% full clusters. Love the subtlety of the wine. Drink now.

A wine with impressive concentration given that it weighs in at only 9.3% alcohol, this comes from two vineyards in Cambados – Eira Padín and Lantaño. Foot-trodden with 100% whole bunches, it has enticing rose petal and petrichor aromas, flavours of pomegranate and wild strawberry and a waft of oak spices. 2025-30

The light Mencía 2021 O Son das Pisadas was produced with grapes from different vineyards, from a challenging year for reds, when Mencía was the grape that behaved better. It was harvested the second half of September, then fermented in an oak and a chestnut barrel. It has a pale bright ruby color and a balsamic personality, with notes of red fruit and an herbal and spicy touch. It has only 9.3% alcohol, but the wine shows quite balanced and has a more consistent palate. Close to 1,000 bottles were produced.
