Beschrijving

Dit is zo'n witte wijn die zelfs de grootste scepticus versteld doet staan. Een mix van Treixadura en Albariño uit de Avia-vallei, in het hart van Ribeiro, en van de heuvels van Melgaço, al in Portugal. De druiven worden met de hand geselecteerd en gefermenteerd in Oostenrijkse eikenhouten vaten, waar de wijn vervolgens een jaar rijpt, gevolgd door nog een jaar in betonnen vaten. Het resultaat is een minerale wijn , complex als weinig andere en puur Atlantisch. In het vorige oogstjaar won hij de prijs voor Beste Nieuwe Wijn van de Guía Peñín 2022

James Suckling:

This has a timid nose of subtle citrus and oyster shells. The palate is penetrating and saline, with a long and elegant finish. It’s made from wines from Spain and Portugal. A blend of treixadura from the Avia Valley and albarino from Melgaco in the Penso and Alvaredo. The wine is fermented for 12 months in a 2,500-liter foudre, where it rests for one year, followed by a year in cement tank and another in bottle.

The 2021 Mixtura Blanco, a 50/50 blend of Treixadura and Albariño from Spain and Portugal, is still a little toasty, spicy and smoky from the oak foudres used for the aging—the foudres were new in 2019 and are slowly giving less aromas and flavors to the wines but are still noticeable. 2021 was a cool and rainy year, and despite the good ripeness reflected by the 13% alcohol, the wine has great freshness and acidity, coupled with the creaminess from the oak. This is tasty. It should age well and integrate the oak with more time in bottle. 9,372 bottles produced. It was bottled in August 2023.
