Made at the start of the changes at Marqués de Vargas, this still has something of the old style about it. Tempranillo led with support from 10% each of Mazuelo and Garnacha, this was aged in an 80/20 combination of French and American wood and is sweet, ripe yet well balanced, with toasty aromas, succulent black fruits and supporting acidity. 2023 30. 

James Suckling:

Dried herbs, olives, currants, spiced cherries and licorice on the nose. Chewy and savory with a medium to full body, polished tannins, and a lengthy, fleshy finish. Drink or hold.
