The older sparkling wine and the one that spends a longer time in bottle with the lees, the 2010 Llegat Familiar was produced with grapes from a Xarel.lo vineyard, La Viña de Paulino, planted in 1935. There was snow in January and February 2010 and plenty of rain in May; it was a rainy year with balanced acidity and potential for aging. This was disgorged after more than 13 years in bottle with the lees. It's the most elegant, nuanced and complex wine I tasted from Llopart; it has very integrated bubbles, making it a bit more vinous with freshness and acidity. It has 11.3% alcohol and a pH of 3.02, quite extraordinary. It is truly exceptional, elegant, fresh and nuanced, very complex and harmonious. Only 1,331 bottles were produced; they disgorged 1,061 of them in May 2023 and are keeping the remaining 270 for the family oenotheque. - Luis Gutiérrez.
A very vinous xarel-lo with yellow apples, lemon pie and a touch of brioche on the nose. Solid, very cohesive and flavorful, with a lovely texture and subtle apricot flavors. Complex and layered with fresh acidity. Made from an extremely old single xare.lo vineyard. Aged for 13 years on the lees. Drink now. - Jacobo Garcia-Andrade Llamas, Senior Editor.
