The pure Viura 2021 Parajes del Infierno El Judas was produced with the idea to get away from the neutral character of the grape, transforming it into something mineral and complex. It comes from a 60-year-old 0.5-hectare plot they own in the middle of a pine forest on sandy and stony soils in the village of La Seca that is worked organically, and it fermented and aged in 500-liter oak barrels for one year and stabilized in stainless steel until bottling. It starts really shy; it's not that Viura is a very expressive grape, but this is really closed and takes a lot of time to open up a little in the glass. But the palate is expressive and textured, with chalky minerality. It has contained ripeness, 13% alcohol and a pH of 3.31 denoting freshness. 1,111 bottles produced. It was bottled in July 2023.
