The single-vineyard 2022 La Rosa comes from a plot called La Casilla de Don Tomás that was planted in 1939 with 90% Bobal and 10% white varieties on calcareous gravel soils. It fermented with 50% full clusters and indigenous yeasts and matured in a 2,500-liter oak foudre, a change over previous vintages when the wine used to be aged in barrels. It has a clean, bright ruby color and an elegant and subtle nose that is a little closed and insinuating rather than in your face. It's not a shy wine at 14% alcohol, with a pH of 3.65 and 4.71 grams of acidity, but the texture and mouthfeel are truly elegant, fine-boned and subtle. 3,300 bottles produced. It was bottled in January 2024. There will be no 2023 bottling of this wine because the crop was wiped out by hail.
