The Wine Advocate:

The red blend 2023 El Mondongo is mostly Garnacha with 5% Mazuelo and 5% Bobal and Moristel, a co-fermentation of one of the old-vine plots they own. It fermented with 20% whole bunches and matured in a mixture of concrete and Flextank eggs. It's aromatic, juicy and ripe, primary and fruit driven, expressive and with classical ripe Garnacha aromas of cherries in liqueur and wild herbs with freshness. It's a fun red that they only produce in years when they find the fun profile with lots of undergrowth, aromatic herbs. This year is especially good with the low alcohol (13.4% to 13.5%) because of the blocking from the heat in August, quite appropriate to deliver a wine that is more immediate and fun. Very original and different, aromatic and showy. This is only the third vintage after 2015 and 2018. 4,990 bottles produced. It was bottled in June 2023.

James Suckling:

This has notes of strawberry liqueur, underbrush and a subtle floral element. Super drinkable and medium- to full-bodied with a good backbone of acidity and a fresh fruit-driven finish. This wine is made only in years when the single vineyards are not the required level of quality. A blend of 10 or 11 different parcels. 90% garnacha and 10% field blends found in the vineyard.
