"The 2013 Trenzado is a white blend of Listán Blanco with some 10% of Pedro Ximénez and Albillo from ungrafted, old vineyards trained in the traditional "trenzado" (braid) system from La Orotava, hence its name. The grapes are sourced from seven different plots on volcanic soils ranging from 300 to 700 meters altitude. One of them, which represents around 35% of the wine, is fermented in contact with the skins in cement vats for 21 days. The others fermented in second to fourth use 500-liter oak barrels. The wine matured for eight months before it was blended and bottled. This is their entry-level village white, the equivalent in white to the red 7 Fuentes. It has a smoky nose of roasted sesame seeds, popcorn and plenty of yeasty, bread dough aromas, with mineral rather than fruit-driven flavors. The palate is quite straight and austere with some tannins plus very good acidity. It has a Burgundian nose and an Atlantic palate. This is a tasty white. 12,000 bottles produced".
