Descripción

Coupage bordelés en el que intervienen las variedades Cabernet sauvignon, Merlot y Cabernet franc. Se trata del primer vino de esta bodega, ubicada a 15 kilómetros de Burdeos, en el corazón de la apelación Pessac-Léognan. Fue catado en primeur por Roger Voss para Wine Enthusiast y le otorgó 93 puntos, destacando su gran potencial de guarda.

Nariz
En nariz es complejo y elegante, con notas de especias, cedro, tabaco y frutas negras.
Boca
La entrada en boca es redondo, completo,con buena estructura, un paladar suave y un acabado que revela taninos maduros.
Temperatura de servicio
Entre 16 y 18ºC.
Consumo
Entre 2020 y 2040 si se conserva en óptimas condiciones.

Viñedo y elaboración

Superficie
47 hectáreas de viñedo tinto.
Edad
25 años.
Suelo
Grava en profundidad con un sustrato de arcilla en superficie.
Rendimiento
37 hectolitros por hectárea.
Cosecha
Se realiza de forma manual y mecánica en el momento óptimo de madurez. Transporte de uvas en cestas y clasificación manual antes del despalillado.
Vinificación
Maceración larga (entre 25 y 30 días), fermentación a entre 28 y 32ºC en depósitos de acero inoxidable, con 3 ó 4 bombeos por día.
Envejecimiento
Este vino tendrá una crianza prevista de 16 a 18 meses en barricas nuevas en un 70% y en usadas en un 30%.

Opinión de los críticos

The Wine Advocate:

The 2016 Larrivet Haut Brion has a generous bouquet with red cherries, crushed strawberry, cigar box and light smoky scents that seem very seductive. The palate is medium-bodied with firm tannin. The new oak here seems a little ponderous and slightly occludes both the fruit and terroir expression, therefore drying out the finish and leaving a mouth-puckering effect. Hopefully this will gain more balance during its barrel maturation, and gain more cohesion and detail on the finish. At the moment, I would favor the excellent 2015 Larrivet Haut Brion. Tasted three times with consistent notes.

Wine Enthusiast:

Barrel Sample. With tannins that are ripe and velvety, this is already a generous wine. At the same time, it has a line of acidity that keeps it crisp and brings out the black currant fruitiness. Put the two elements together and the wine will be on top form after 2027.
