The nutty, expressive and amber colored NV Carrasviñas Dorado goes back to the roots, to produce a style of wine that was very popular in Rueda in the 1970s—fortified wines aged with flor and in an oxidative way, blended in a solera à la Sherry and bottled in a Jerez bottle. They have produced this style of wine again, here with 70% Verdejo and 30% Palomino, picking very ripe grapes to achieve 15% alcohol. After fermentation, it was put in to 16-liter glass demijohns that were left outside the cellar for no less than 1.5 years to achieve a slow oxidation in a reductive environment, and then the wine was put in barrel in the solera system for no less than three years. This is nuttier and doesn't have a biological phase of aging under a veil of yeasts. The palate is dry and serious, with pungent nutty flavors and a very long finish. 2,500 bottles produced. The next lot will be bottled in January 2019. Demand seems to have been quite strong...
Una verdadera curiosidad. Diferente. Complejo.
