El Jardín de las Iguales Tinto 2022

The 2022 El Jardín de las Iguales Garnacha was cropped from a warm and dry year, more Mediterranean and with a sensation of a little more ripeness despite the moderate 13.5% alcohol. The grapes were picked quite early, the 11th of September. The full clusters, including a small percentage of Macabeo interplanted with the Garnacha (perhaps 5% to 10%), fermented with full clusters that were foot trodden in concrete and with a long maceration of 82 days. The wine matured in neutral 456-liter barrels for a period of 13 months. It has notes of flowers, berries and herbs with an exotic touch of curry and celery, elegant and complex. It has a seamless palate with abundant, fine-grained tannins and very supple flavors. It has very good acidity and healthy parameters: a pH of 3.12 and 6.19 grams of acidity. 960 bottles produced. It was bottled in July 2024. I tasted the wine twice, the same bottle with a difference of 14 hours, and the wine opened up spectacularly but didn't deviate one millimeter; so, my guess is that the wine is going to age effortlessly in bottle.

Solo se elaboran 960 botellas de esta Garnacha de viñedo único procedente de El Jardín de las Iguales, en Alpartir. Cultivado en suelos de pizarra y caliza, es un tinto picante, etéreo y sorprendentemente mineral, procedente de viñas de 100 años. Ofrece notas crujientes de arándanos y granada con una textura calcárea y taninos finos y granulados. El sutil uso de roble añade profundidad sin pesadez. Su perfil elevado se ve acentuado por una marcada acidez y la fermentación con racimos enteros. Una expresión vívida del terruño de la región. 2025-32
