Monte Real Gran Reserva 2017

A simpler Rioja Gran Reserva with plenty of spiced cherries, plums, berries and walnuts on the nose. A little chewy now on the juicy palate with medium to full body and a tight finish. Quite traditional in style. Vegan. Better in two to three years.

Deep ruby to the eye, this wine offers aromas of blackberry, purple plum, dried Mediterranean herbs and a soft touch of earthiness. Silky tannins coat the palate bearing flavors of raspberry, blackberry preserves, anisette, mint tea and marjoram flavors. The enduring finish is marked with a note of ripe summer cherry. — Mike De Simone
