A wine that has come together in bottle since I tasted it a year ago at the Consejo Regulador, this is a pure Tinto Fino from clay and limestone soils at 900 metres in Hontoria de Valdearados. Smartly curated in 10% new oak, it's all about freshness and focus rather than power, with tangy plum and red berry fruit, a chalky undertone and fine-grained tannins. 2024-30

Chocolatey on the nose, with notes of vanilla, coffee, black fruits and ripe strawberry. Powerful, with grippy ripe tannins.
