Expertenbewertungen

Tim Atkin:

Ana Barrón and Xavier Ausás have identified three special parcels with different soil types on the Vargas estate to make this assemblage of Tempranillo with 18% Mazuelo and 10% Garnacha, all aged in new French oak. Sappy, chalky and perfumed, this is a wine of depth, focus and personality, with subtle wood spices, sinewy tannins and a core of blackberry and cassis fruit. 2024-35

The Wine Advocate:

Despite the challenging year, the 2017 Selección Privada feels much more harmonious than the 2016 that I tasted next to it. It's 14.4% alcohol and has a soft palate with much more polished tannins. It matured in barrels for 22 months, but here 15% of the volume was in 500- and 600-liter barrles. A good effort.

James Suckling:

A ripe expression of tempranillo from a complicated vintage. This shows aromas of figs and plums with plenty of spices and some dried leaves woven in. The palate is round and full-bodied with sweet tannins, a juicy thread and a dark fruit-oriented finish. Drink now or hold.
