Calm and smooth, this has a nice balance between cool blue and sweet ripe fruit, fresh acidity and fine tannins. Overall it’s generous and well controlled with enough fruit and density to give a round body. Ends clean and focused.

Based on 85% Merlot and 15% Cabernet Franc, brought up in 30% new 400-liter barrels, 40% once-used 225-liter and 400-liter barrels, and 30% older barrels, the 2024 Château Saint George Cote Pavie reveals solid, ripe red and black fruits, graphite, scorched earth, and loamy soil, with tobacco notes in the background. Medium-bodied, concentrated, and focused on the palate, with ripe tannins, it exempifies the juicy, lively style of the vintage.

Lots of limestone character, with crushed stones, sea salt, violets and pretty fruit. Medium-bodied with fine tannins and a crunchy finish. Long and racy. 85% merlot and 15% cabernet franc.

A powerful, imposing wine, the 2024 Saint Georges (Côte Pavie) has plenty to offer. Dark blue/purplish fruit, lavender, spice, mocha and dried herbs are dialed up. Saint Georges (Côte Pavie) remains a pretty potent Saint-Émilion, even in 2024, although there is more finesse in the tannins these days—no small feat in this challenging vintage. This is quite good.
