Les Pagodes de Cos 2024 en Primeur

Quite a brooding wine for the vintage, with lots of bold tannins. Full-bodied and tannic, with good structure and a mid-palate that's slightly weaker than the tannins. Compact, with a medium-long finish. 50% merlot., 43% cabernet sauvignon, 5% cabernet franc and 2% petit verdot.

A great second wine pick in 2024. Fragrant nose, really aromatic and perfumed with a deep violet rim. Liquorice, black chocolate, violets. Supple and nicely filling with a lifted, juicy almost sweet acidity on the mid palate - chalky blueberries, cool cherries and lots of liquorice but fresh and so clean. Nicely structured - you can feel the frame here - this isn't a light wine, very sophisticated and well balanced. Totally charming at this point. Concentration and density here, such a refined touch, really stunning. I love this wine! Great fresh mintiness too. 30th vintage - special etched bottle to commemorate. 2% Petit Verdot completes the blend. Ageing 20% new barrels. 3.52pH. (Georgina Hindle)

Deep, dark ruby, opaque core, purple reflections, subtle brightening on the rim. Delicate notes of cloves, cassis, blackberries and candied orange zest. Juicy, fresh sweet cherries, soft notes of plums, fresh structure, saline minerality, subtle sweetness on the finish, balanced and well developed. The 2024 Les Pagodes de Cos is terrific. Medium in body and vibrant, the 2024 is impeccable. Blackberry, spice, leather, menthol and chocolate open gradually. A wine of balance and harmony, the 2024 is super-elegant. I find the less bombastic style here vis-à-vis the past quite interesting. (Antonio Galloni)

Plenty of smoky savoury oak to scent with a fauve, almost meaty, edge and bold blue fruit. Very inviting and St Estèphe. Juicy fruit and with rounded tannins and a lovely texture and depth. Good ripe tannin extraction very well balanced acidity and fruit weight and a long finish. This is a terrific effort for the vintage for sure.

The 2024 Les Pagodes de Cos wafts from the glass with aromas of dark berries, licorice and nicely integrated oak. Medium to full-bodied, polished and suave, it's impressively rich and layered for the vintage, with beautifully integrated tannins and acidity. (William Kelley)
