Tiento 2016

The 2016 Tiento is a selection of their best grapes, a blend of Tempranillo, Syrah, Merlot and a tad of Malbec from the higher-altitude plots on the property (they didn't use Cabernet Sauvignon this year). It fermented with indigenous yeasts and matured in 300-liter French oak barrels, 40% of them new, for 13 months. It has good complexity, and the varieties show nicely integrated and complementing each other. It's ripe without excess, keeping good freshness and nuance. The palate is medium to full-bodied with integrated acidity and round tannins. 2,630 bottles and 240 magnums were filled in August 2018. - Luis Gutiérrez.
